Hi, I have an anecdote about Oatlands from 1862 about a visiting theatrical troupe consisting of a singer, an actress, and a harmonium player under the management of R.S.Smythe. If you are interested I can direct you to the book and article wherein are contained the tales and point you toward portraits. It too place in the courthouse. -Allister Hardiman

Hi, during a recent visit to Oatlands I came across an ornate gravestone in the cemetery that has no inscription engraved on it. I sent a photo of it to a US website and it was published as Photo of the Day, and there was some interest shown by the readers. Does anybody know the story behind the grave? I'd love to know.

I visited your museum with my niece in (I think) April last year.
You had interesting information in a folder on the McDermott family, which was very interesting.
However I am interested in my convict relatives William Watson, and his wife Ellen Farrell. William was a noted gardiner who worked for the Bisdees, had a cottage just across from their homestead and was buried in the Jericho cemetery (under a treee).
I have been looking for basic information on these two people on TROVE, such as marriage or death details, but unable to find anything. Perhpas these events weren't in the papers digitised by TROVE.
Someone in you society told me there was more information available from another member, or perhaps another socieity on William Watson - but I cannot recall the details.
Can you refer me or provide some more information please??
My email: cmcd01@mac.com
Thanks
